Fredericksburg doesn’t get Buffalo-style snow totals. NWS Sterling puts our long-term annual average around 10–12 inches, but it’s front-loaded into 2 or 3 storms that tend to arrive between late December and early March. A single Nor’easter can drop 8 inches overnight, and suddenly every plow truck within 50 miles is booked.

The problem with calling during the storm

We and every other snow-removal outfit run a priority list. Pre-registered customers get cleared first — that’s the deal. If you call us the morning after the snow falls, you’re at the bottom of a list behind people who signed up in October. You’ll get cleared, but you might be looking at 24 to 48 hours of navigating an iced-over driveway in the meantime.

Pre-register and you’re done

Getting on our snow list takes 3 minutes: open our instant quote, pick snow removal (small driveway, large driveway, sidewalk, or salt), accept the price, and you’re on the priority list for the whole season. No monthly retainer, no commitment to use it if we don’t get snow. You only pay when the truck actually shows up.

When we trigger

Our default is at 2 inches of accumulation — past that point, driving on snow compacts it into ice that’s much harder to remove later. If you want us at a different threshold (some commercial accounts want 1 inch, some homeowners want 4), tell us when you sign up.

What’s included (not charged extra)

A clean driveway doesn’t do much good if you can’t get to your mailbox or front door. That’s why we include, on every plow visit:

  • Mailbox access — we clear a walkable path to the mailbox so the postal carrier actually delivers. Blocked mailboxes get skipped and mail piles up at the PO.
  • Driveway apron — we clear the apron at the street end of your driveway so you can pull in and out without bottoming out on a snow ridge or getting stuck on the approach. This is the spot that often gets buried by the plow that comes through on the road.

What we don’t do

  • Shovel roof snow. That’s a specialty trade with fall-protection requirements. We’ll refer you to someone.
  • Wait on you to move the car. Tell us where to clear and where not to when you sign up; moved cars mean a clean job.
  • De-ice steps unless you’ve added the salt service.
  • Move cars. Tell us which part of the driveway to leave alone for vehicles, or move them before we arrive.

Price snapshot

  • Small driveway (2-car, standard suburban): $50 per storm
  • Large driveway (long rural, circular, 3+ car): $125 per storm
  • Sidewalk: $15
  • Salt application (optional add-on): $30 per driveway or walk

Commercial lots, apartment complexes, HOA contracts — call (540) 752-3190 and we’ll set up a storm-season agreement.

The honest pitch

Most winters, pre-registered customers here in FXBG use us 2–3 times. A couple of winters we’ve barely plowed at all. And one winter we plowed the same driveway 4 times in 3 days — a single storm front stalled over FXBG and dumped wave after wave. You pay per storm, so you’re not paying for a mild year — you’re just getting priority when it matters.
