New Year, New Lawn — Why Booking Now Saves You Money

Walk into any hardware store the first week of April and you’ll see it: the lawn-and-garden aisle mobbed, mowers back-ordered, and half the neighborhood trying to figure out who to call. By the time most homeowners think about lawn care, the good service companies are already booked.
Route slots lock up fast
Every mowing company runs on routes — a crew drives a planned loop of customers each day, week after week. Good routes are tight (less gas, more jobs per hour), which means they have a fixed number of slots. Our Fredericksburg + Spotsylvania Monday route fills by early March. Stafford + King George Thursdays fill by mid-March. If you wait until you see the grass growing to call, you’re on the next-available day — which might be a Wednesday when you wanted a Friday.
Annual Prepay: same 10% discount, year-round
Our Annual Prepay plan pays for the remaining weekly mows in the mowing season (mid-March through mid-November) with a flat 10% discount. Whether you sign up in January or July, you get the same 10% off — the math just adjusts for how many visits are actually ahead of you.
- Book January–April: full 30-week season, biggest total savings
- Book May–August: remaining weeks × per-visit × 0.9 — still save on every mow
- Book September–November: short runway, smaller total, same 10% off each visit
- Book after Nov 15: mowing season is over; Annual Prepay reappears in January
The earlier you book, the more you prepay — and the more total dollars the 10% turns into. That’s the case for booking now rather than waiting.
Plus: price-lock protection
When you prepay in January, the per-visit price we quote is locked for every remaining mow this season, even if we adjust our rate card in April (which we sometimes do when fuel spikes). Non-prepay customers get whatever the current per-visit rate is each week.

Why we write about this in January
Because route slots fill up fast, and the earlier you commit, the more weeks the 10% applies to. There’s no magic to early booking — it’s just how routes work and how math works. If you’ve been a customer before, the same route, same day, same crew is yours for the asking, but only if you say so before the scheduling board fills up.
